One-of-a-Kind Studio Furniture & Millwork

Designer Profile

Martin C. Vendryes began woodworking in 1985 making solid wood pine and oak colonial style residential furniture. After apprenticeship completion, his career meandered through custom commercial millwork, store fixtures, and teaching before he set up his own fine furniture studio in 2010.

Whether developing a new studio piece, designing bespoke furniture for clients, or completing a custom project to architect specifications, Martin brings his obsessive passion for perfection to bear equally on his studio designs and millwork projects, focussing on integrity of materials and construction techniques. Though conversant with modern materials and modern machinery (he has taught use of CNC equipment in woodworking applications), his studio utilizes only conventional equipment and hand tools.

For studio furniture, he prefers solid wood and natural finishes that he applies by hand. And with a strong affinity for architectural lines, Martin blends ancient and modern aesthetic influences to perfect the form of a piece while highlighting the organic beauty of natural wood surfaces.
